Juan de la Cierva was a Spanish engineer, inventor, pilot, and aeronautical enthusiast. In 1921, he participated in a design competition to develop a bomber for the Spanish military. De la Cierva designed a three-engined aircraft, but during an early test flight, the bomber stalled and crashed.

De la Cierva was troubled by the stall phenomenon and vowed to develop an aircraft that could fly safely at low airspeeds. The result was the first successful rotorcraft, which he named autogiro that first flew on 9 January 1923, at Cuatro Vientos Airport in Madrid.

De la Cierva's autogiro used an airplane fuselage with a forward-mounted propeller and engine, an un-powered rotor mounted on a mast, and a horizontal and vertical stabilizer. His aircraft became the predecessor of the modern helicopter.

The success of the Autogiro garnered the interest of industrialists and under license from de la Cierva in the 1920s and 1930s, the Pitcairn & Kellett companies made further innovations. Late-model autogyros patterned after Etienne Dormoy's Buhl A-1 Autogyro and Igor Bensen's designs feature a rear-mounted engine and propeller in a pusher configuration.

Since then to nowadays lot of new designs and modern autogyros have been developed successfully. Since civil and humanitarian versions to non-civil.
Some versions of this machines, without engine and using only the autorrotation that some people call gyroplanes have been used for civil and non civil circumstances too.

Andrew Linden: (rezday 2002-06-04) is a cofounder and developer Linden and is possibly most known for his work on the Havok's code (physical environment of SL).

The first Flight Script of a vehicle was written by him (nov 2003). You still can find his script in some places. ( https://github.com/AvaCon/LSL-OpenSim-Script-Library/blob/master/Scripts/Flight%20Script(Andrew%20Linden).lsl ).

Cubey Terra: He devolopped lot of vehicles and upgraded lot of fly scripts. One day he gave a big heritance for all pilots, he gave an entire plane, with mesh, scripts and free to use. You still can find that old post. ( https://cavers.ca/cubeys-last-ride-a-challenge-to-second-life-aircraft-makers/ ).

RCX Productions Team: LuciForge and others of RXC productions group. They continue the work of Cubey Terra and made big effort to everyone to create and make compilation of the scripts. Lot of planes in SL and lot of designers of SL use RCX or modifications or learned thanks to this.

Thanks to mesher
